Growing. Cooking. Learning. Eating.
At Home in Southern Maine.
Our story. Our garden was the first project we took up in the spring of 2020, just months after we moved into our house and found ourselves suddenly at home full time as the pandemic ripped through town. The garden gave us something to focus on, somewhere safe to learn and play outside with our daughter, and it gave our family a much needed sense of agency when nothing else did. I was already a believer in keeping a garden, but after those stay-home days together among the plants and the peace of mind it offered our family, I saw our garden also as a powerful teaching tool, a worthy a classroom as any - more so, perhaps. So here we are coming home again, after closing our childcare business in Portland’s West End, to continue learning together with our eight-year-old in what is now Our Homeschool Garden.
Follow along on our journey of learning together in and around the garden, the kitchen table, and out and about in the vibrant, food-focused community of Greater Portland, Maine.
